How to install an amp and what kind of cables do I need for a 1000W mono amp peak, 200 RMS?
Trying to install a subwoofer an amplifier in a 93 Honda Accord LX. The sub is a 12 "Rockford Punch, the main unit is a Pioneer DEH-4600MP, the amp is a Kenwood KAC-8101D mono. Yet I have not bought the cable yet and need advice on what would be the best option on a budget. I was getting the 8 gauge Monster cable for the amp kit installation. I've never installed an access point before, but was strapped for cash that I try to install the same elements. My plan is the sub being in the trunk, but I do not know where to place the amplifier. Any advice would be very useful details or ideas that ususally beginners do not know or realize. Thank you all for your help
the last guy pretty much covered it, but if you're a real beginner at this, then ill explain a lil more …. run the power cable of the positive battery through your car to your amplifier, you can easily hide the cables inside the panels of the car. Then your amp ground to a part of your dealer, I would recommend the seat belt bolt. Then you want to run your RCAs and remote cable, and plug the speaker cables. 8 gauge should be suitable for a rock 12, but if you upgrade to any submarines, I would recommend moving to 4, 2 or even 0 gauge wire. Most people put in place amplifiers in the back of there back seats, assuming you have easy access to your back seat (most of them just pull down) then run the wires under the carpet to clean a bit and make it look good. a key point about placing your sub that you probably know is that when you put in your trunk, you want the real sub off the back of your car with the back closest to the back seat as possible … In this way the bass is much deeper, clearer and more effective. I also recommend you get it and skrewing racks on the trunk doesn't go as close as go around once. but to answer your question, if you werent on a budget, I'd say go to Circuit City and buy a wiring kit high class, but seeing how is on a budget, I would reccomed just go to Walmart and buy a 1400 watt amplifier wiring harness … I think it's like … 25.00 will be what you want, but far from his best.
