You must use a lacquer or polyurethane body electric guitar?

Polyurethane probably work better. Laca, but a beautiful finish, is very tolerant to moisture. That's why the ring on the table when you set your drink cool down on it. It is also intolerant to UV radiation. If you go with the lacquer, figure to use something like MAGNAMAX ML Campbell. It is designed for what you are looking to make and is chemical and moisture resistant. Other than that, polyurethane is a good product. It has great protection and is easy to work.
